The Legal Rights and Natural Resources Center, Inc.- Kasama sa Kalikasan/Friends of the Earth -Philippines (LRCKsK-CDO) Cagayan de Oro Regional Office was established in May 1999 for the purpose of expanding the delivery of LRC-KSK's services to the communities in Northern, Western and Eastern Mindanao. Basically, LRC-CDO operates in accordance with LRC's mandate for its regional offices, which are as follows: * Provide legal and campaigns supports to indigenous peoples and rural communities in addressing actual and imminent threats to their land and natural resources and securing their rights over their lands; * Provide policy briefings and paralegal trainings to communities and non-government organizations and church groups on relevant advocacy issues; * Network with non-government organizations, church groups and formations/coalitions within their geographic areas to support the struggles of communities and advance the advocacy of the Center; * Conduct relevant field-based researches that will feed into the policy research of the Center and in developing strategic legal and campaigns community intervention; and * Spearhead the formation of community paralegal teams willing and able to assist the Center's staff.
